The Indian government approved the "One Nation One Subscription" (ONOS) scheme in response to the goal
of making India "Atmanirbhar" and "Viksitbharat" by 2047. Research is also a prerequisite for exceptional
education and development in our nation, according to the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020).,
The scheme gives students, faculties and researchers at all higher education institutions run by the
central government, state governments, and central government research and development institutions
nationwide access to international high impact scholarly research articles and journal publications.
The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) intends to acquire national licenses for e-journal/database
subscriptions from most of the prominent journal publishers. ONOS now includes 30 significant worldwide
journal publishers. Through a nationwide subscription service run by the Information and Library Network
(INFLIBNET) Centre, journal access is made available. By making research easier for all students, faculty,
and researchers at government institutions, One Nation One Subscription is a timely move towards embedding
India in the global research ecosystem.
Jadavpur University Library started to subscribe online journals in 2004, by establishing the “Centre for
Digital Library and Documentation”. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) with 60 nodes was established under
the “Centre for Digital Library and Documentation” in 2003. Another LRC is also operational in the Salt Lake
Campus Library of the University. All the digital resources subscribed by the University are accessed in both
the LRCs.
In 2025, the Library subscribes to around 521 online journals, 1 print + online journal, 146 print journals,
periodicals, magazines and newspapers and 14 databases. In addition to this, the library receives a large number of newsletters
and house - journals etc., which being irregular in publication and ephemeral in nature, have not been included in this list.
All the IP address ranges of Jadavpur University (Main Campus and Salt Lake Campus) network have been authenticated by the
publishers of the subscribed journals and databases for users’ convenience. The University Library provides “Digital Library
Beyond Campus" service through RemoteXs.
