Plagiarism

Plagiarism means the copying of another person’s material and using such copied material as if it were one’s own work, without citing a quotation or stating a source. (SAOB, book 20 [in translation])

As a part of our MoU with UGC-INFLIBNET Centre , Jadavpur University provides an anti-plagiarism software called URKUND that allows you to detect plagiarism in project work, academic paper, article, theses, or any other research or innovation related work . Use URKUND plagiarism checker to find out the possible plagiarism before submitting it for publication. URKUND’s e-mail based system automatically checks all submitted documents with no extra effort required on the part of the teacher.

We have shared the details of Jadavpur University faculty members with Urkund (eGalactic Support ) so that they can create their account to access Urkund anti-plagiarism software. The faculty members who have not yet activated their account, can contact the Information Scientist, Jadavpur University to get their account registered with the URKUND.

How the URKUND works?

URKUND - When the documents arrive at URKUND, they are analysed against the content of three source areas: the Internet, Published Material and Student Material. When the analyses are finished, the documents and generated reports are forwarded to the teachers.

PROFESSORS - The result of the analyses and the student documents are forwarded to the faculty member’s e-mail address of choice. URKUND provides easy, straight-forward plagiarism prevention with minimum workload.

STUDENTS - Students may send their documents for plagiarism check via e-mail to their teachers/professors.
